Adoptables

Some of our TAC residents are still looking for their happy endings and their very own family homes. Here are our guys who are ready for a new life. Do you think they could be right for you? Please contact us if you would like to express an interest in adopting.

Kaguya is 3-4 years old and was rescued from the house of an animal hoarder with 40 (!) other cats. She had a severe ear infection, many deficiency symptoms and was supposed to be put to sleep. This traumatic start in life left deep emotional scars on her. In the beginning Kaguya had great difficulties with other cats, hissing a lot out of fear and low self-esteem. She has adapted better to sharing her space with other cats now, but still struggles with the human touch of those she does not know. Her regular care givers are allowed to give her some love which she enjoys a lot.

Borja was found on the street in the village of Tesorillo. He is about 4-5 years old. At first he was very shy and extremely nervous. After some initial difficulties, he has found his place in the TAC Pack. He gets along very well with other dogs. And is now also very cuddly with people. He is full of happy energy and shows his goofy side every day a bit more. Unless of course it is too hot, then he is relaxing in shade. Despite everything, it is difficult for a dog his size to find a home. Until then, he gets a lot of love and attention at the rescue center.

Merci is approximately 2 ½ -3 years old. She lived as a young mother by a highway near La Linea. Sadly her last kittens were all run over there. Trusting enough to be touched, she was taken into the home of Merci, a volunteer at La Linea Animal Shelter. She spent half a year there until her rescuer fell ill and could no longer take care of her. She now lives in TAC’s big cat house with her friend Miami and is getting used to the coming and going. She has become very confident, demands cuddles and bosses the other cats around. But what Merci really needs is a forever home!

Miami is about 2 years old. She was born in an abandoned construction site and spent more than her first year there without any human contact. She also had kittens there, but they fell onto the street through a safety net and drew attention to their situation after the only entrance was walled up. They were freed from the situation and her kittens quickly adopted. Miami is extremely shy of people and while in foster care she became friends with Merci. The much more confident and trusting Merci is now her emotional anchor and Miami needs her friend very much.

Although her head seems too small for her body, this very affectionate female cat is around 2 years old. Pickles lived free near an apartment near La Linéa that was always rented out to different people. Occasionally she tried to make the apartment her home away from home, but not all tenants liked her and complained. So Pickles needed a place to stay before anything bad happened to her. That’s why she moved into the Big Cat House in October 2022. Here she got used to other cats and is now looking for a home where she is loved, where she can cuddle a lot and, ideally, where she can sleep in bed.

Kheila is just over 2 years old. In order to give birth to her young, she had chosen a shopping center in Palmones. More precisely, the false ceiling of the shopping center. Workers noticed her when one of her children slipped through the ventilation opening. Kheila and her 3 little ones were successfully rescued and are now waiting for adoption in the TAC rescue center in the large and small cat house. Kheila is very confident, loves people, cuddles, attention and food, but not always in that order. However, other cats are not allowed in their “vapor circle”, which they also make clear by hissing and targeted hits on curious noses. She loves to play (alone) and twirls around the entire cat house. Kheila would be good in a household with just one other cat or alone, preferably without small children, as she can be quick witted with people too.

Max & Lottie- were rescued from a canal in Algeciras at the end of December at the age of 4 months. The mother and siblings probably died on the nearby road. As the only survivors, they were terrified and very scared of humans. Both always looked around with big round eyes and were therefore affectionately called the “owls”. Max has been adopted as he decided to trust people and enjoy cuddles, Lottie needs a little more time. She is a beautiful completely black cat and is happy in the company of the other cats in the smaller cathouse at the TAC headquarters. Humans are still very scary for her, but we are optimistic that with patience, love and time she will become more trusting too.

Coco was part of an uncontrolled colony on La Linea Beach until June 2022. She was about 1 year old at that time. As life among the rocks becomes even more difficult for a long-haired cat with Persian ancestry, her rescuer decided not to bring her back after spaying as usual, but to put her up for adoption. However, since a street cat’s acclimatization process is a bit longer and more complicated, their adopters lost patience. Now Coco is in the rescue station and starts the learning process to trust and love all over again.

Tigger was born around November 2021. She was removed with her sister Baby from the home of a woman who had not taken good care of them. Both cats were full of fleas and had eye infections but with good care and love have recovered well. Baby has already been adopted, while her sister is waiting for her turn. Tigger is cuddly and rather fixated on people, but lives peacefully with 9 other cats. All tests are negative, she is neutered, vaccinated and ready when you are!

Pati and Aba were rescued from the street in Algeciras by a private individual and spent 4/5 months in cages there. They were probably born around August 2021 and arrived with eye infections and a runny nose. Both are very shy, but in different ways. Pati is very suspicious of people and tries not to attract attention. She lies still, hoping to be overlooked. If you approach her slowly you can touch her, but she clearly prefers the friendship of the other (quieter) cats.

She is curious and tries to interact with the other cats. She also likes to play, often alone. She is still a little suspicious of people, but she no longer runs away but observes a lot. Slowly but surely, she’s getting braver and getting closer.
